WTF IS LOUVATURE?

I had to remind myself what it meant too, don't worry you are not alone. LOUVATURE is a swing off of Toussaint Louverture. Toussaint Louverture was a slave in Haiti in the 1700s. He led a slave rebellion against the French and took over the nation. He was widely praised for freeing the slaves and also restoring the economy of Saint-Domingue. No, I'm not from Hati or do I have any relation to it, but Toussaint Louverture was pretty hardcore. So is my blog....theres the connection.

How to Create a Good Blog: Part 3- How to Get Blog Traffic

OK, so maybe that last post was too damn long, so I apologize.

I have a lot more to say, so you can just pick out everything you want. Here’s my advice:

GET GOOGLE ANALYTICS

If you want to have blog traffic then you need to know three things.

  1. Who is visiting your site?
  2. Where are they coming from?
  3. Why are they on your blog?

MY advice: get Google Analytics. Google Analytics tells you how many hits you get a day; it gives you information on what sites your visitors are arrving from; tells you what search engine keywords are giving you the most hits, and tons of other stuff. I like it because I can see the effects certain posts have on my blog traffic. This way I won’t post for nothing.

CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT…

Another way to increase your traffic on your blog is to have content. Now I know I never follow my rules, but content really does help. I could post a hundred pictures tonight without any text, but I would receive many hits. When I include text, with good content, search engines pick up the keywords, and I get new visitors. After writing this guide my hits are going to soar, because you were looking for it and was linked here by Google.

SPREAD THE WORD!

Here’s my final point before I close. Promote your blog. Email your friends, put your link on your facebook, let people know. Even though the world is digital, a lot of stuff is still spread by word of mouth.

IN CLOSING

So yeah, this is my guide. I have a lot more I want to say, but as you know by now: I’m pretty lazy. I am so lazy that i didn’t go back to check the grammar. Sorry if any of the sentences are really screwed. Hope this helped you. Leave some comments. I need em.

How to Create a Good Blog: Part 2-Finding your Inner Blogger

OK, so you want to create a good blog. You now know what kind of blogger I am, and you aren’t about the money or digital diary fetish. Now you need to decide how you will blog.

MY STORY

I’ll tell you my story. Though I started Louvature in March of this year, I am sad to say that it wasn’t my first blog. I can’t even count the number of times I have attempted to start blogs before Louvature. It was ugly. I’ve had other aliases, tried other platforms, etc, but none of my previous blogs lasted more than a week or two.

Here’s an example of one of my older shitty blogs: http://louvature.wordpress.com

Sucks right? I only had one damn post and ironically ended it with “I’m Baaccckkkk!!!”. The next week I was gone. I don’t even think anyone ever visited the blog. Anyways, that is not how you want to end up. Blogging is actually harder than it may seem. It takes dedication, and hard work. This was my problem. I didn’t have the dedication. That’s why I have done so well with the tumblr platform. I know people poke fun at it and call it the lazy mans blog platform, but it seriously is. Its so damn ez. This is where I meet the main purpose of this post: Choosing a Blog Platform.

CHOOSING A BLOG PLATFORM

Yeah I know, some of you people are saying, “Hey! I don’t want a blog platform! I want my own website and code it and use html and css and shit”. Well, yal can go do that. I personally don’t give a shit. I choose to use a blog platform because it makes your life easier, makes getting hits easier and everything else. I’ll give my advice on which to choose. I’ve only tried three so bear with me.

If you are the person who wants a blog with text, I would recommend either Blogger or Wordpress. I personally enjoyed wordpress a lot more than blogger. I would probably still be with wordpress had I not run into some legal issues and had to kill the blog….but that’s another story.

WARNING : Creating a blog where the main focus is text can be extremely difficult. Unless your blog is focused at a specific niche, where you can constantly talk about one thing, it is actually difficult to come up with posts. This is especially frustrating when you first start off blogging. You will spend hours researching and writing a post and then only receive a couple hits of enjoyment.

The other road is the one I’ve taken: The lazy one. If you don’t want to waste your time writing long posts and looking for cool things to talk about I would recommend, tumblr. Its fast and easy to use. Some people think tumblr is a cult, but that’s bullshit(as long as you don’t go to any tumblr orgies). I can post pictures and video in ten minutes and then leave the computer. Its mint.

How to Create a Good Blog: Part 1-Who is Louvature?

Before I get down to the details on how to produce a good blog you must realize who I am, and what kind of blog is Louvature. First of all, Louvature is not a commercial blog:I don’t sell anything, adn this blog’s purpose is not to create revenue.  All I want is your attention. Therefore, Louvature is not a personal blog either: I didn’t start Louvature for myself. If I wanted that, I’d get a diary(actually I’d probably have a journal…diaries are for bitches[excuse my french]). I created Louvature because I wanted to share all the crazy stuff I find online with everyone I know.  So, if you are trying to create a blog for a business, or want to have one for your deepest darkest secrets, this guide isn’t for you.
